Ingredients
Split yellow moong dal – ½ cup, soaked for 2–3 hrs
Onion – ½, finely chopped
Tomato – 1 small, chopped
Cucumber – ½, chopped
Green chili – 1, finely chopped (optional)
Lemon juice – 1 tbsp
Salt – to taste
Black pepper – ¼ tsp
Fresh coriander – 1 tbsp, chopped
Optional: Grated carrot or bell pepper – 2 tbsp
Execution
1. Prepare Dal
Drain soaked moong dal → boil or steam until just tender (don’t overcook) → cool.
2. Mix Salad
In a bowl → add cooked moong dal, onion, tomato, cucumber, green chili → toss gently.
Add lemon juice, salt, black pepper → mix well.
3. Serve
Garnish with fresh coriander.
Serve chilled or at room temperature as a healthy snack or side.
Additional tips
Use tender, soaked dal for a soft yet slightly crunchy texture.
Add roasted peanuts or seeds for extra crunch and protein.
Chill salad for 15–20 mins before serving to enhance flavors.
